Located only 5 minutes away from Ooty’s famous Government Botanical Gardens, Prabhu’s Place is a cosy little guesthouse ideal for travellers on a budget. The property is located in the midst of a small organic farm in the heart of Ooty. This means you’ll never be too far away from the hill station’s most popular attractions including Ooty Rose Garden, the Ooty Railway Station, Fernhill Palace, and Doddabetta Peak.

The guesthouse also doubles up as a cosier version of a hostel with two dormitories. The space at Prabhu’s Place is quite cosy and homely with black oxide floors, pale yellow walls, and minimal furniture. It also has a common living room and dining area, which you can use as and when you please. A delicious breakfast along with fresh fruit is also served here every morning.

How To Get Here

In terms of getting here, the closest airport is the Coimbatore International Airport which is 106 km away and the closest railway station is the Mettupalayam Railway Station about 60 km away. If you’re catching a flight or a train, you will have to travel the rest of the way by bus or cab. The Ootacamund Bus Stand is 3 km away from the property and is the stopover for many buses run by TNSTC, KSRTC, and many other public transport organisations. For a ride on the famous Nilgiri Mountain Railway, head to the Ooty Railway Station, which is located right next to the bus stand.

Prabhu’s Place boasts a total of 5 rooms, of which two units are dormitories and the other 3 are private rooms. Each room is well furnished with cosy beds, and clean attached bathrooms with hot water facility and complimentary toiletries. Extra beds are provided on request. The caretaker of the property is friendly and will be happy to help you with anything that you need.

When you stay at this homestay, you can expect on-site amenities like round-the-clock power backup, thorough housekeeping, and free parking. The guesthouse has a common dining area where you can enjoy all your meals. Though only breakfast is provided with your stay, you can ask the caretaker to make you lunch and dinner in advance, against a reasonable charge. We recommend that you give the other meals a try.

Since Prabhu’s Place is located so close to some of Ooty’s most popular sites, there’s plenty to see and do here. The famous Ooty Lake and Boathouse is about 4 km away from this property, where you can enjoy an evening of horse riding, boating, and a good walk around the lake. You can also visit the Mini Car Museum, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Toda Temple, and Government Museum. For some shopping, head to Tibetan Market.
